12/21/2023 - Tax Collector: Second Installment of Taxes is Due

The second installment of real estate and personal property taxes as well as supplemental motor vehicle taxes all on the October 1, 2022 Grand List are due and payable January 1, 2024.

Payments must be received or postmarked on or before February 1, 2024 in order to avoid interest and fees. If taxes due, or any portion thereof, are not paid on or before February 1, 2024, interest will be charged from January 1, 2024 (the original due date) at the rate of 1.5% per month (18% per year), subject to a minimum interest charge of $2.00 (SS 12-146).

Your canceled check is your receipt. If paying by mail and a receipt is desired, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope along with payment and the appropriate payment stub(s). Be advised that our processing center does not send paid receipts and will not process payments without a payment stub. Please keep the top portion of your bill(s) for your records.

Debit card, credit card and e-check payments can be made via our online tax system at www.southbury-ct.org/tax or by telephone at 1-866-843-5096. Please note that our vendor charges a service fee.

The Tax Collector’s Office cannot accept cash payments more than $50.00.

Electronic reminders of taxes due can be received by registering for e-alert notifications at www.southbury-ct.org/e-alerts.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or the penalty (SS 12-130).
